If your New Year’s resolution is to be more prompt and organised, we can help. Did you know that on average us women spend two years of our lives preening ourselves? Think what else you could be doing with that time!
With this in mind, we found some beauty hacks that save time without compromising your look.
The 10 second eyeliner trick
Winged eyeliner looks fantastic, but it can be time-consuming. A simple trick to get the look quickly is to apply your liner to the upper lashline as usual and then use a credit card at a 45 degree angle for the winged tip. If you’ve smudged the liner, just use a cotton bud dipped in make-up remover to clean up any mistakes.
Use multitasking make-up
Make life easier for yourself by investing in products that multitask. Use a cheek/lip stain to add colour, a radiance product for highlighter and eyeshadow, and a BB cream to tackle coverage, texture and SPF.
Try in-shower products
Get the most from your shower time by using products designed to be used while you shower. Fake-tan lovers should try St Tropez’s in-shower gradual tan lotion for a subtle hint of colour without the faff. In-shower moisturisers and spray moisturisers are also great for cutting down your bathroom time.
Style your hair while you sleep
Wash your hair the night before, towel dry it and then divide into two plaits. After a night of sleep you’ll be left with tousled waves that just need a spritz of styling spray to finish off.
You can save a huge amount of time in the morning by organising your make-up. Keep the products and tools you use daily to hand and store anything else away. This means you can grab what you need without having to rifle through a hundred different lipsticks to find the one you want. Keep your brushes clean too – not only is this hygienic, it will mean you can fix any mistakes easily with a clean brush.
There are some beautifying jobs we spend hours and hours on, so sometimes it’s worth calling in an expert. For example, think about the time you spend shaving your legs – that time could be saved by investing in a more long-term solution such as laser hair removal, or even waxing. Sure, it may cost you more upfront, but the money and time you’ll save overall is worth it.
