If like us, you fell into the over-plucking trap when you hit your 14th birthday, you may now stare into the mirror, wishing you hadn’t have been so impulsive.
We put a lot of trust into the technician looking after our brows when we book in for a wax, but what if it goes wrong? We turn to celebrity brow specialist, Sania Vucetaj, to discover her tips for getting the best brows of our life.
Keep your brows product free!
Try to avoid getting any lotions, gels, moisturisers or foundations on or around the brow area. All of these products seep into the hair follicles, causing them to fall out and prevent regrowth.
Use the right mirror
This one shocked us. “Avoid magnifying mirrors.” Sania warned. Try to pluck in dull lighting and use a regular mirror. Bright lights and magnified mirrors will cause you to lose perspective and over-tweeze.
Make sure they start at the right spot
A common misconception is that the brows must align with the nostril. In fact, they should begin inline with the top bridge of the nose. If you separate the brows too much, your face can be made to appear wider.
Don’t overdo it
Do not overfill the arch! While many of us want a full, bold brow, some people are overdoing it with the pencil. Try not to choose a shade any darker than your natural brow colour.
Tweezing the option
Tweezing is a precise method. Rather than waxing the brows, tweezing allows you to pull one hair at a time. When it comes to eyebrows, every single hair has a role to play in maintaining the perfect shape. As Siana says, “Brows are meant to enhance, not distract.”
