Beauty trends come and go, but a glamorous set of long eyelashes will never go out of style.
Today there are a range of eyelash beauty treatments designed to enhance your natural set – boosting their length, colour, thickness and curl.
Combining all of these benefits in one application is a set of false eyelashes.
These come is all shapes and sizes and offer a quick and easy way to liven up your look and add some serious glamour.
The only issue is, they can be a real pain to apply, and there’s always a possibility they’ll fly off before the end of the night.
To make the most of a great pair of false eyelashes, we recommend this method:
Step one: Apply mascara
Prep your clean lashes by giving them a quick curl with an eyelash curler then apply a coat of mascara. This will help to create a ‘shelf’ to support the weight of false eyelashes.
We love: Urban Decay Perversion Mascara (£17.50). A creamy and lengthening volumising mascara that doesn’t clump and naturally lifts lashes.
Step two: Measure and trim
Before you apply a set of false eyelashes, make sure they are the right size for your eye shape. You may need to cut the strip to fit – use some nail scissors to snip the outer edge.
Step three: Create a curve
You may find giving your false lashes a slight bend inward (into a ‘C’ shape) will help to restore a natural curve. This will help them to stay put without the corners lifting up.
Step four: Add the glue
Trace your lash band with a laser-thin line of eyelash adhesive. If you have a steady hand, squeeze straight from the tube. If you tend to get shaky, put the glue on the reverse end of a tweezer and glide it across the band. Be generous at the outer corners of the lashes to ensure the ends stick.
We recommend: DUO Striplash Adhesive white clear (£4.99). This glue will be far more effective than the one included in your false eyelash set.
Step five: Apply your lashes
After applying the glue to the lash band, wait a few seconds for it to become a bit sticky before placing the lash using your fingers. Aim for the base of your natural lash, right on top. The glue will dry clear so do not worry if you get a little bit on your skin.
Step six: Finishing touches
Once you have applied your lashes, leave them to set for a couple of minutes before adding another coat of mascara. This will help to integrate the false lashes with your natural ones to make them look more natural.
