Fact: Perfectly styled hair and make-up rarely makes it through the working day.
No matter how flawless your foundation/lipstick/posh up-do looks in the morning, by the time 5pm rolls around it will have lost its lustre.
This can be rather frustrating – especially if you’re often making last minute evening plans to see friends, go for drinks or meet up with the other half.
One way to combat this is to keep several beauty essentials to hand – and where better than your desk drawer?
Here’s a round-up of our favourite office make-up essentials:
To give your complexion a boost during the working day, we recommend a multitasking concealer/foundation mix that provides quick and easy coverage without clogging pores. Clinique’s Beyond Perfecting Foundation and Concealer (£25) is a savvy product that adapts to your skin tone to provide a smooth finish. You don’t even need to worry about grubby keyboard fingers as it includes a handy applicator wand.
Nail polish remover pads
Chipped nail polish is unprofessional (not to mention unsightly), so keeping a pack of nail polish remover pads in your drawer is a must. Butter London has a special collection of Scrubbers 2-in-1 Nail Prep & Remover Pads (£8) that come with a gritty surface for wiping away even the most stubborn nail polishes.
Rollerball and solid perfume
Instead of lugging around your giant bottle of perfume for top-ups during the day, we recommend a rollerball or solid perfume. A number of brands provide their best-selling scents in these miniature, desk-drawer-friendly versions. We love The Body Shop White Musk Libertine Solid Perfume (£5) and the L’Occitane roll-on perfume collection (£14.50).
Tinted lip balm
For a delicate touch-up of the lips at the end of the working day, a tinted lip balm will provide a pretty sheer wash that can be applied quickly and easily. We love Benefit’s Posiebalm Hydrating Tinted Lip Balm (£14.50), which allows you to build colour while conditioning and hydrating your lips at the same time.
Oil absorbing sheets
If you’re prone to oily skin and often find your foundation coverage is nil by the evening, oil absorbing sheets are just what you need. Boots Skin Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets (£2.99) are super cheap and help to remove excess oil whilst refreshing and softening the skin.
Dry hair shampoo
Fake a fresh blowout and revive limp hair with a quick spritz of dry hair shampoo. We love the Batiste range, which also comes in mini travel-sized sprays. These will fit perfectly in your desk drawer.
Chubby blush stick
To perk up dull skin, a chubby blush stick is genius. We recently reviewed The Body Shop Lip & Cheek Velvet Stick (£12), which is versatile, easy to blend and creates an instant glow. We also have our eyes on Clinique’s new Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm (£19).
