Here at Beauty Resource we’ve already covered which big make-up trends are coming your way this autumn, so now we want to look at the finer details – nail trends. So far this year, dramatic nails were superseded by more subtle designs, with nude nails proving to be a huge trend over summer.
As we move into autumn this trend continues, with chic understated nails taking centre stage alongside more directional designs. Take a look at the trends we’ll be trying this season:
Transitioning from summer to autumn, the nude nail trend is still going strong. Try a sheer wash of nude colour or go even more minimal with a gloss of clear varnish. This look works best on shorter nails, so give them a good file beforehand.
Deep mahoganies and wine tones are the perfect way to do statement nails this season. Darker colours really show up when they chip so remember to layer the colour and add a protective top coat.
Either parallel to the cuticle or diagonal across the nail, geometric lines were rife on the catwalks for autumn/winter. Try this in metallic hues for a more dramatic take on the trend.
Working as a fantastic contrast to dark autumnal clothing, white nails add a modern touch. If pure white is too clinical for you, try something off-white and creamy.
One of the more edgier trends this season, using negative space on your nail is inherently cool. Just leave part of the nail naked – paint a diagonal half or just the tips for a sleek and fashion-forward look.
Subtle nail art
Limit your nail art to just one finger (on the catwalks designers favoured the ring finger) for a subtle yet elegant feel. Sparkling half-moons, tiny polka-dots and minimalist lines are among some of our favourites.
