Now the weather is beginning to turn it is time to say goodbye to the last days of summer. While we will of course mourn the warm weather and sun-filled afternoons, a new season means a new start for beauty fans.
Autumn is perhaps the most exciting season for make-up lovers – we no longer have to worry about melting make-up and dewy textures, we can embrace bold colours and more dramatic looks. This year, all eyes were on, well… the eyes. While lipstick has its place, it appears fashion has reignited a passion for eye make-up. Let’s have a look at the key trends:
Light and shade
Highlighters, shading and contouring were rife on the catwalk, emphasising the face’s natural light and shade. A subtle hint of illumination is a great way to develop a neutral make-up palette – experiment with highlighters and dark grey tones around the eyes.
Extra-long false lashes offered doll-like prettiness to models at Rochas, Gucci and Versace, while clogged, spider-like lashes rebelled at Prada and Topshop Unique. While these are perhaps extreme examples, you can take inspiration and up your lash game this season – why not try eyelash extensions?
Flash of colour
Blue was a key colour in summer beauty and it has returned for autumn. This season sees it in rich sapphire colours paired with nude lips. Other colours taking the spotlight were deep purples, bronzes and khaki.
Always a popular trend for autumn, we were pleased to see models adorned with bronze, silver and gold on the catwalks. Try this trend in a unique way with bronze lips or glittery eyes.
One for the minimalists among you, this ‘no make-up make-up’ look saw glowing healthy skin take centre stage while neat brows and no-fuss hair signalled a more sporty take on the trend. To ensure this look stays groomed, get your eyebrows shaped by a professional.
