Experimenting with beauty and make-up is fun no matter what age you are; however, as we grow older there are certain beauty lessons that we should really learn.
Take a look at our list of essential beauty lessons to learn before you leave your 20s and turn 30.
Invest in skincare
The first thing many of us come to realise as we grow older is the importance of good skincare. Rather than using a cheap lotion from the supermarket like you did when you were a teenager, now is the time to invest some time and, yes, money into your skin. Do some research and try out a few well-known skincare brands to find a routine that works for you.
Another nice thing about leaving your teen years and early 20s behind is gaining the confidence to try bolder looks. Find your ideal red lippy and have fun with bright colours. If you previously steered away from lipstick, you might find our back to basics post on lipstick useful.
Shake it up
Once you find a product or make-up look that works for you it can be tough to introduce anything new. While it is tempting to stay in the confines of what you know, it is worth shaking up your routine from time to time. Read some reviews online and try a new product, or watch a video tutorial and try a new make-up look.
Wash your make-up brushes
Dirty make-up brushes breed bacteria and can make your skin dull and congested. Make a pact with yourself that you’ll keep them clean and give them a good wash once a week. You may be surprised at how much better your skin looks by making this simple change.
Throw out old make-up
Do you have drawers stacked full of old make-up? While you may want to keep hold of them ‘just incase’, you should really check the use-by date. Make-up does go off and again, can become a breeding ground for nasty stuff. Have a clean out once a month and throw away anything that you have never used or is out of date.
Get professional help
There are some areas in life where we benefit from professional helping hands. Getting your brows threaded, having a wax or indulging in a facial are just a few examples of where an expert’s touch is greatly appreciated.
