Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey
Although it was launched in the 1970s, it was two decades later that this berry shade of sheer lipstick really took off. Thanks to the female cast of Saved by the Bell, Black Honey gained major prestige and people fell in love with its unmistakable texture, which lies between a lip balm and a glossy lipstick. In 2012 Clinique launched a limited edition of seven new shades, but only Black Honey lives on.
Benefit founders, Jean and Jane Ford changed the course of rouge make-up with the introduction of Benetint – a delicate rose tinted stain for naturally flushed lips and cheeks. The huge success of this product saw the Ford sisters introduce three other tints, including Lollitint, ChaChatint and Posietint, which have all gone on to become leading products of the much-loved beauty brand.
Yves Saint Laurent Touché Éclat
Two decades after its launch, this under-eye concealer continues to be YSL’s most purchased product in the beauty category – with one touché éclat pen sold every 10 seconds across the globe. Used by an endless list of celebrities including Madonna and Naomi Campbell, it truly is a reigning, revolutionary beauty product.
NARS The Multiple
Another product from the 1990s, NARS The Multiple is a creamy, shimmery highlighter stick that can be used on eyes, cheeks and lips. It gained steam after founder, Francois Nars used it to create a dewy glow on model Corolyn Murphy at a 90s photoshoot, and today it continues to be a beauty staple among make-up artists and non-pros alike.
MAC lipstick in Ruby Woo
MAC’s number one selling lipstick is a unique shade of eye-popping red that is loved so much by pop star, Rihanna, she created her own version called RiRi Woo when she collaborated with the beauty brand last year. Launched in the late 1990s, Ruby Woo continues to be found on ‘best red lipstick’ lists all over the world.
