For many of us ‘skin care’ equates an arduous routine of cleanser, moisturiser, spot zappers, whatever that toner thing is, and everything else in between.
Quite frankly, it seems far too complex and tedious to keep up a routine that ensures our skin is top notch, especially when life is busy enough as it is. Who really wants to spend a spare five minutes morning and night smothering on face cream – special circular, massaging movements included? Not many.
So for all those girls who’d rather spend an extra few minutes in bed rather than sprucing up their face, we’ve got this great guide to tackling the biggest skin care complaints in just a few simple steps:
Reduce puffy eyes
Lazy – Keep gel pads in the fridge, which you can place on your eyes for a few minutes in the morning to soothe and replenish puffy skin.
Lazier – Choose an eye serum with caffeine to reduce inflammation. We love Clinique’s All About Eyes Serum De-Puffing Eye Massage (£22).
Laziest – Sleep on two pillows. Keeping your head raised will allow fluid to drain under your eyes, which will reduce any puffiness when you wake up.
Moisturising dry skin
Lazy – Use a facial moisturiser that contains glycerine to ensure the best hydration and long-lasting moisturisation. You should try Olay’s Complete Care Daily UV fluid (£9.99).
Lazier – If you’re not one for moisturising, tackle dry skin while you’re having a shower. A creamy face wash containing shea butter will provide natural, yummy smelling hydration. A great find is Clarin’s Gentle Foaming Cleanser with Shea Butter (£19).
Laziest – Stock up on Flaxeed oil supplements and take a 1,000-miligram capsule daily to help retain skin moisture.
Lazy – Target problem areas by dabbing on a special spot treatment stick that doesn’t dry out the skin. We recommend Clean & Clear Treatment Gel (£3.06)
Lazier – Grab some ice from the freezer, wrap it in a piece of cloth and hold it against the affected area for a few seconds. Repeat a couple more times to instantly reduce inflammation and swelling.
Laziest – Exfoliate. Before you go to bed wash your face with an exfoliating wash such as Simple’s Clear Skin Oil Balancing Exfoliation Wash (£4.29) to clear out impurities and tackle the spots before morning.
