Whether you suffer from acne or just get the odd spot from time to time, having a breakout is your skin’s way of telling you something is wrong. With party season now upon us, it is more important than ever to zap spots before they start.
The Eastern tradition of face mapping says there is a correlation between your internal organs and different areas of your face. Considering your skin is actually an organ itself, this idea makes a lot of sense. When it comes to breakouts on the skin, once you identify which area it is in, you can find out more about its cause and take action to prevent it happening again.
Of course, there are many unavoidable factors at play when it comes to the skin, but in most cases – there is something you can do to help.
Take a look at the following breakout areas to see what your skin is trying to tell you:
If you suffer from breakouts on the forehead, they could be triggered by stress or lack of sleep. Try to catch up on your Z’s and take time to wind down before bed to lower stress levels.
Above the eyebrows
This area is affected by your immune system, so you may find that you get spots here before you come down with a cold. If you notice spots here, slow down for a couple of days and ensure you’re eating plenty of fruit and veg.
Between the eyebrows
Breakouts here can be down to a food allergy or an overindulgence of unhealthy food. Take a look at your diet and try to cut back on sugar, dairy and alcohol to help your skin clear up.
Your cheeks are linked to your respiratory system, so a breakout here could be caused by smoking or air pollution. Take some time in nature to breathe fresh air, and if you smoke – ask your doctor about quitting!
Spots here are usually linked to hormones and may occur around the time of your period. While there isn’t much you can do to prevent this, if it bothers you speak to your doctor about contraceptive options.
