Now that we are in the second week of September and the weather is starting to cool, it is impossible to ignore the fact that autumn is on its way. An exciting season in the beauty world, September sees new trends emerging from the catwalks and a host of new looks to try. This year, eyeshadow took centre stage with metallics, bold colour and soft ethereal eyes presiding.
Take a look at our tips for re-creating these trends at home:
1. Bronze Age
As summer nights give way to autumnal evenings, eye make-up has an excuse to get heavy. The catwalks showed a particular fondness for bronze metallics this year, creating a luxurious yet sophisticated eye. Start with a rich base using Colorstay Smoky Shadow Sticks in Atomic and Torch and then use a damp brush to press a copper colour onto lids. The dampness of the brush will offer a wet-look that works so well with metallics. Keep skin matte and lips a neutral shade for maximum effect.
2. Ethereal eye
Flattering on every skin tone, the ethereal eye adds instant structure without overwhelming. Use sheer washes of mink shades that wing out lightly for an alluring shape. Finish the look with subtle highlights using Mac’s Cream Colour Base in pearl on the centre of the lids, inner corners of the eye and brow bone.
3. Blue moon
Blues and violets were seen in a range of catwalk shows, usually taking form in bright, block shades. To make this look more wearable try Clinique’s Chubby Stick Shadow Tint for eyes in Massive Midnight. Use this shadow/liner hybrid along your lash lines to make eyes pop.
