Describing the deal as ‘kind of sick’, 25-year-old Rihanna told journalists how her latest project has allowed her to explore her creative side.
“Being creative is something that I love, so I can put that into different outlets. Music happens to be the first thing that I gravitated to, and now music opens doors to just so many different opportunities, and they all tie in. My make-up looks, my fashion looks…they help me to express myself as an artist. I think it helps people to understand me or my mood, my story,” she said.
MAC’s ‘RiRi Hearts MAC’ collection will kick off with a lipstick called ‘RiRi Woo’ in May 2013. The singer-turned fashionista said it was difficult to find a shade to beat her favourite bright red ‘Ruby Woo’. However, after testing different lipsticks on her friends, she thinks she’s found a new shade of red to suit all skin tones.
After the lipstick launch in May, MAC will release a summer collection, a special holiday collection and a final autumn one. The holiday collection will be the biggest, with nail polish, makeup bags, lipsticks and more.
Rihanna claims to be humbled by the new partnership, stating she didn’t ever expect to have her own make-up range at such a young age, especially with such an esteemed label.
