For many of us, treating ourselves to a facial is a rare occurrence – but when we do indulge, wouldn’t it be great to make that fresh, glowing feeling last longer? These expert tips should keep your skin feeling and looking fantastic long after your appointment…
Target your skin type
If you have a dry complexion be sure to use creamy masks and oils at night for a little added comfort. If your skin is congested, look out for products containing eucalyptus, camphor, rosemary or tea tree for a little pick-me-up after your facial.
Think about your make-up
While you won’t want to be slathering on thick cream-based foundations after your facial, mineral make-up can actually help to reduce inflammation.
Don’t worry about cleansing that night
Your facialist will have done an excellent job at cleansing your skin during your facial, and a lot of the products used may need to continue working overnight. Skip your usual cleansing routine the night after your facial and let the products do their job.
Eat the right foods
Try to avoid indulging in dehydrating drinks such as alcohol or caffeine, and avoid foods high in sugar and salt as these will counteract the benefits of your facial.
Get an early night
Our skin repairs during sleep so it is important that you get a good night’s sleep after your facial to reap the benefits. Getting enough sleep will help the products work to their full potential and will leave your skin looking better for longer.
