The petite American started life as a small-town farm-girl but quickly found her niche in the fetish world as a glamour model and burlesque dancer. Her porcelain skin, ebony hair and miniscule waist earned her much attention from the world’s press and she soon became a global star on stage, on the big screen and in magazines including Playboy and Vogue.
Having successfully dominated every corner of the showbiz world, it seems Ms Teese is now looking to ruffle some feathers in the beauty industry.
“I love the ritual of sitting at my dressing table and applying make-up. It’s a wonderful part of being a woman!” she told Cosmopolitan.
“I taught myself to do my own make-up so that I can have a quiet moment to transform before I start my day. With practice and patience, you don’t need a glam-squad to achieve beauty.”
The Dita Von Teese Classic collection will consist of base, eye, cheek, lip and nail products so women everywhere can recreate that elegant, gothic look reminiscent of 20s, 30s and 40s glamour.
A big part of Miss Teese’s sex-appeal is of course her statement scarlet lips. She’s never seen in public without a slash of shocking red or dark maroon. It’s no surprise then, that the new Artdeco collection features six shades of red ranging from an orange-hued ‘Muse Red’, to a dark ruby ‘Maitresse’.
A vintage-style pin-up look wouldn’t be complete without a flick of liquid eyeliner across the top lid. To achieve this look you can opt for the Dita Von Teese black gel eyeliner with an accompanying brush for precise application. This can also be used to recreate Ms Teese’s trademark beauty spot.
The collection also features 12 neutral matte and pearl eye-shadows, to be finished off with two pairs of false eyelashes made with real hand-knotted hair.
Dita’s mother was a manicurist so she should know a thing or two about nails. She likes to recreate the classic ‘halfmoon’ fashion from the 30s and 40s, where women would leave the lower part of the nail natural for a more elegant look. This can easily be achieved using the Dita Von Teese nail lacquers in ‘Moonlight’ and ‘Dragon Lady Red’.
