Up until quite recently, finding an Essie nail polish anywhere on the British high street would have been like finding the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. For years now, we have looked longingly across the pond at the nicely manicured Essie painted nails of other countries – and now the time has come for us to finally welcome the cult polish brand to two of our favourite high street stores.
If you haven’t noticed already, Boots and Superdrug now have an Essie stand. Rejoice! On the very rare off chance you haven’t heard of Essie, they are a premium polish brand akin to the likes of OPI, Nails Inc, Orly and Jessica.
Whilst this does mean that they come in at a slightly more premium price (£7.99 for standard polish), actually this isn’t far off the likes of Revlon and Loreal but the quality is far superior. The opaque polishes often only need two coats, the brush is extra wide to prevent streaking and to make the painting process a doddle, and the colour lasts for days with no chips.
The colour range on offer is also extensive – even in comparison to the likes of Barry M – and we can assure you, you’ll probably want them all!
As it’s summer the most popular shades are proving to be the ice cream pastels that have remained popular for the past couple of years. Mint Candy Apple (a soft jade green), Lilacism (a pale parma violet) and Cute As A Button (candy like coral) are all best sellers once again – but we love Watermelon (a bright red/pink) for a pop of colour on the nails, and Fiji (a white/pink shade) for the toes. Both look fantastic with a tan and are difficult to find a dupe for.
Essie also offer a great range of top coats, base coats and nail care nourishment products. We absolutely love the Essie Good To Go top coat (£8.99), which sets nail colour in a flash for those days when you are on the go.
Pop down to your local Boots or Superdrug today to check out the Essie collection.
