Here at Beauty Resource we love a brand with a conscience and this is why we completely covet the brand Amazon Beauty. Founders Fabian Lliguin and Anna Ayers have made it their mission to ensure the beauty of the planet is preserved so work hard to ensure they are promoting sustainable beauty products.

In order to achieve this they send troops into the Amazon Rainforest to work with native tribes and nationalities to help protect intellectual property rights. All products are made from high quality natural ingredients which contain no nasty chemicals, parabens, sulfates, dyes or petroleum and are 100% vegan.

One product that particularly caught our eye was the Rahua Finishing Treatment which is already a favourite among celebrity’s Johnny Depp, Jennifer Lopez and Gwyneth Paltrow (who loved it so much she even mentioned it on her website Goop.com).

This is essentially a finishing treatment which is designed to repair and add shine. In terms of how to use, it is extremely versatile and can be used on wet or dry hair before blow-drying and straightening to prevent breakage and repair damage, or it can be run through wet wavy or curly hair and left to dry giving great shine and frizz control. This is also great for those who want to add a little texture to their hair and again can be used on ether wet hair before blow drying or on dry hair with a little applied to the root area before some teasing or mussing.

The treatment will strengthen the hair but unlike many others will not leave it heavy, clumpy, oily or crunchy but weightless and glossy instead. Apparently the key ingredient to this treatment is super-fine Rahua oil molecules, which deeply penetrate the hairs cortex to rebuild even the most damaged barnets.

This product is a real luxury and we can assure that a little goes a very long way and though the price point of £36.50 may seem a little steep remember that we don’t bat an eyelid when we shed out that much on a myriad of other beauty products so why should we treat our hair any differently? If you needed any more convincing then remember this is one of the most sustainable products around,is completely vegan and helps to preserve the Amazon rainforest, so sleep soundly…with gorgeous hair.

You can pick up Rahua Finishing Treatment from Liberty.

If you want your hair to look like you’ve just stepped of the catwalk then it’s definitely worth paying Hersheshons Blow Dry Bar a visit. This is a great way to transform your everyday hair into a dramatic evening look in just 30 minutes. Simply walk in (no appointment necessary), browse the eight fabulous styles on the menu and choose your favourite for the team of stylists to recreate.

The menu is ever changing but currently features 8 signature looks which you’ll have difficulty choosing between:

The Super Straight
Super sleek, poker straight hair for a sophisticated and sexy take on the modern goth. Inspired by fashion’s enduring style icons Carine Roitfeld and Jane Birkin.

The B-52
A tougher, up-to-the-minute interpretation of the classic Bardot. Forget the sex-kitten, this looser up-do adds a little boyish edge to any outfit.

The Marcel
Recreate the glamour of silver screen goddesses Rita Heyworth or Sophia Loren. These perfectly, polished waves pay tribute to the style legacy of French hairdresser Francois Marcel.

The Rick Rack Jack
Reworking an old school technique used to create frizz, this is a fresher version for anyone wanting to channel a retro, 1970s American vibe. A style that complements dressed up or down fashion.

The Classic
The references here are pure Upper East Side Manhattan. Sleek, polished and very groomed. For those who like their hair to scream ‘expensive’.

The Bardot
A lady-like elegance that pays homage to Hitchcock heroine, Tippy Hedren. Added height at the crown creates a retro glamour yet the look remains modern by ensuring the front and sides are kept flat.

The Wavy Gravy
A Hersheson classic which is undoubtedly the defining hair style of the Noughties. Touselled beach babe meets rock’n'roll. Kate and Sienna we salute you.

The Big and Brushed
Another look pushing the high-octane lifestyle. Similar to the ‘classic’ but with a bouncier, more fresher feel to hair that has a ton of movement.

You can ether visit the blow dry bar in the basement of Topshop’s Oxford street branch, or venture on over to the new and enormous Westfield centre in Shepard’s Bush.

All styles are priced at £22 and if you are concerned there is nothing on the menu to suit your style then note that the stylists are flexible and will taylor the chosen look to suit your style.

Fed up with your yawn worthy hair and fancy trying out a new style this Spring? Why not try giving your hair a good old plaiting. Every season we see some sort of revival of the braid, but never more than in Spring/Summer 2010. It has recently been spotted on the catwalks in all sorts of shapes and sizes. Dishevelled, fishtailed, sculptural or even intertwined with ribbons. Whether you prefer it loose and messy or tight and preened, you can’t really go wrong.

We know there are too many options to consider now so why not try a messy fishtail plait ala Fearne Cotton at the Brits. Our favourite fashionable presenter rocked the braided look with a gorgeous vintage looking polka dot dress and some bright red lippy, a look which Beauty Resource covet.

Heres how to get the look:

-After washing your hair apply a generous amount of mousse before giving your hair a quick rough dry, this will create lots of body and will keep you plait in place.

-Back comb the hair for some extra body and add height with a tail combination

-Take small sections of the hair and sweep over to one side before pinning in place at the back of the neck.

-Interweave the sections to create a tousled look and then with the bulk of the hair at one side create a loose wide plait, leaving three inches at the bottom and secured with a clear band.

-Use the tail comb to then gently pull a few little strands from the front for a slightly messy look and then apply lots of hairspray.

From an early age girls seem to want to age themselves prematurely, constantly pushing the boundaries to look older than they really are. However is this new trend taking it a little too far?

Grey hair, yes grey hair ala grandma, is the latest big trend to hit the catwalks. It is all about the grey hair right now. Back at the spring/summer shows we began to see the tell tale signs of this growing trend. Rue du Mail, Giles, Jeremy Scott and Gareth Pugh all sent their models down the catwalk looking like they were on their way to the post office to collect their pensions. Grey streaks, chunks and highlights were rife at Fashion Week and this time around it is no different.

Chanel’s couture show earlier this week saw silver foxes trotting down the catwalk and fashion pack leader Kate Moss seems to have followed suit after recently turning up to an event at the Ritz with a freshly streaked grey hair do.

Fashion eccentric Daphne Guinness has long since coveted the look, having sported a white/grey streak in hair hair for years. Junior fashion blogging sensation Tavi also jumped on the band wagon, showing up to the Chanel show with a newly dyed grey barnet and further adding to the pensioner look with a pair of NHS style plastic framed glasses.

However, don’t go out and buy the grey dye straight away! How about testing the waters first with a bit of wash out hair mascara? Try Stargazer’s £3 silver version.

Winter means dry porous and dull hair for many of us, but thankfully it no longer has to be this way! Mop (Modern organic hair products) have conjured up a Glisten Spray Gloss potion to put the sparkle back into any dull tresses skulking about this winter.

It is also worth noting that Mop have designed their products with our earth and its future in mind and are trying to provide modern, simple and natural hair care whilst trying to keep their carbon footprint under control.

Avocado oil helps to infuse every strand with brilliant shine. Wheat protein and amino acids give your hair strength and the ultra light mist calms those naughty fly away hairs. Unlike some other shine products on the market Mop also leaves your hair looking and feeling natural and not completely weighed down and clogged up with product. Not to mention its handbag friendly size too.

Mops glisten spray gloss is priced at £12.95 and is available for purchase from ASOS or from the Mop website.

Delightful English hairdresser James Brown has come up with a new Scandalous range of haircare products. Inspired by a few of his favourite London regulars Daisy, Pixie and Lily, James is hoping that this new range will encourage people to experiment with their hair. From a big quiff to rock chick curls and bed head waves Scandalous puts the fun back into getting ready.

Rock Chick Wave Spray is a favourite, allowing those with lifeless hair to sex it up with some rock chick waves ala Kate Moss. The spray has a flexible formula, meaning that crunchy hair is a thing of the past.

Another favourite is the Voluptuous Boost Volumising Mousse. It builds incredible height but leaves hair feeling light and natural without that crunchy feel we were just talking about.

You could finish off your look with the Luminous Style Finishing Spray, which is full to the brim with glossing agents to create dazzling shine. It also adds a final layer of spicy sensual perfume to give your hair that extra head turning factor.

Considering the range has been formulated and developed by a celebrity hair stylist, all the products come in at a completely affordable and accessable price point. You might as well buy the whole range!

All products are available here.

The SOS Hair Range contains three products designed to repair and restore. The Deep Treatment is for those lucky enough to have jetted off to the sun, just leave it on for 20 minutes and it’ll restore all the protein that might’ve been stripped by the sun. It’s also good for chemically treated hair. It costs £20.

The Creme De Coco Masque will rehydrate hair without weighing it down and will work on any hair types, so you can share it around. It costs £20.

Finally there’s a Leave-in Conditioner to fight the frizz, again for all hair types, costing £16.50.

All the products are available from HQ Hair.

The swept across fringe has been a huge trend for the past five years or so, but with it has come the never ending struggle of stopping said fringe looking greasy in between washes. Which is why dry shampoo was such a life-saver, but never seemed to be readily available in the shops.

Luckily though there’s only one brand you need, and you can buy it in Sainsbury’s. Batiste comes in 150ml cans for day time bags, and even a little 50ml can so you have add a bit of extra shine to your hair halfway through a night out.

It also comes in lots of lovely smelling flavours, including Tropical, Boho and Blush. And at only around £2 a can, it’s probably cheaper than your normal liquid shampoo.

You can get Batiste online at ASOS, in most supermarkets or in Boots and Superdrug.

As with all ‘natural’ looks though, these waves need a bit of work to achieve. Redken’s Touch Control 05 will help you create the perfect tousled style, and then make it stay there. The texture whip is easy to apply and will protect your hair from heat damage – especially useful if you’ve got straight hair and are using a hair dryer, straighteners or curling tongs to give the waves a helping hand. It also protects hair from the environment, so perfect if you’re actually heading to the beach with your beach fresh hair.

It costs £9.95 and is available from HQ Hair.
