Body-spray for blokes was always going to need some serious rebranding.

The beauty industry has, over the last few decades, been persistently hacking away at the stereotype that is ‘Man’, in the hope of unleashing a great untapped source of potential customers.

Now the tables have turned to such an extent that male brands are beginning to open their doors to the lucrative female market.

Lynx has lead the way for male body sprays since 1983, with a very simple and effective formula: combine a semi-naked supermodel and a good dose of tongue-in-cheek humour with names like ‘Lynx Dark Temptation Bullet’ and ‘Lynx Africa’, and you’ve suddenly got men queuing at the perfume counter.

Sex sells, and Lynx know this. Unfortunately, the rather blatant objectification of women in its racy campaigns has made the company a few feminist enemies. Last year this resulted in the banning of a stream of seductive ads featuring model Lucy Pinder.

In a bid to freshen up its controversial image, Lynx is now announcing plans to launch its first ever female fragrance.

According to Brand Manager Kieran Danaher:

’Lynx Attract will unleash the full power of the ‘Lynx Effect’ for both sexes and make the mating game doubly exciting.’

Lynx Attract For Her is described as a mouth-watering combination of pomegranate, apple and blueberry, with base notes of musk, wood and vanilla to perfectly compliment Lynx Attract For Him.

After all of Lynx’s hard work convincing men that body-spray isn’t in the slightest bit girly, they now have the tough job of penetrating the already packed-out female deodorant market with a brand heavily seeped in masculine ideals.

The question is- will those vanilla base-notes and the pink girly packing be enough to placate the tough female critics? Or should Lynx stick with what it knows? (Namely Kelly Brooks’ cleavage.)

Lynx Attract For Her will be sold for £3.25 for 150ml. If you would like more information about Lynx Attract For her, check out the Lynx website.

Chanel Jersey, previously worn exclusively by men, has recently been relaunched for a female market.

It introduces the new Les Exclusifs de Chanel collection.

Described as “evocative of a meadow lush with lavender” with a “tender trail of Vanilla and Musk”, this new fragrance infuses a masculine product with a feminine touch.

Blurring the boundaries between male and female perfumes is a bold risk by Chanel, and one that encapsulates the brand’s Avant-garde image.

Born from the heart of early 20th century Parisian glamour, Chanel has always embraced modernity whilst remaining exquisitely understated and poised.

The new Chanel Jersey fragrance evokes the brand’s golden age- 1920s hedonism, glamour, cocktail parties and decadence- while introducing a sleek 21st century touch.

This is the fragrance for women who are unafraid of making a bold statement, women who dare to embrace Jersey’s solid, masculine past.

Jersey is prominent reminder that, nearly a century on, Chanel continues to preside effortlessly over the global fashion kingdom- and will continue to do so indefinitely.

Chanel Jersey is available to purchase in 75ml or 200ml Eau de Toilette .

After a successful range of ‘Fuel for Life’ fragrances, Diesel have just released a new fragrance, entitled ‘Loverdose.’ The first thing you notice about this fragrance is the bottle, which is a bright and vivacious purple colour, and really stands out from the others. The bottle is shaped as an edgy, multi faceted heart, which has a dagger through the middle. An interesting design, for an interesting fragrance.

The concept behind ‘Loverdose’ is a perfume to stimulate attraction and desire. It is designed for sexy ladies who are fun and playful, and want to have some pleasure and passion in their lives. Fatal attraction has never been so prevalent than this gorgeous perfume.

This uplifting fragrance is made up of a combination of some wonderful and exciting ingredients. Firstly, you have a mix of a sweet liquorice scent, together with rich vanilla. The liquorice is more apparent on the initial spray, but it soon transforms into the sensual vanilla smell. It also has some other wonderful scents, including mandarin, star anise and sensual dry woods.

Unique and powerful, ‘Loverdose’ is unique, fresh and truly exhilarating. If you want to attract and seduce the opposite sex, this perfume will be sure to have the desired result. You can wear this fragrance anywhere, whether it’s for during the day when you’re out shopping, or even for a night out. It is completely versatile to wear for any occasion and at any time.

Diesel Loverdose Eau de Parfum (30ml bottle) is available from Boots and is priced at £35.00.
No, were not talking about white wine spritzers, but what we are talking about could provide you with a ‘pick-me-up’ to rival a glass of chardonnay.

Perfume is great an all but it would be a rather expensive habit to spritz your entire body multiple times on a hot summers day with a bottle of eau de parfum. So, if you are feeling all hot, sweaty and let’s not beat around the bush…smelly, then give yourself a good going over with a delightfully scented body mist.

Body mists are great for cooling you down and freshening you up when you are feeling run down, hot and bothered. Here are our top three body mists to pop in your bag this summer:

1. Ted Baker Divine Body Spray 150ml £5.10

This body spray could rival some of the top perfumes with it’s gorgeous infusion of bergamot, tangerine, peach and plum. Its combination of exotic flowers, rare woods and amber give the body mist a deep and luxurious scent.

2. Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Mist 100ml £7

A fragrance for those who enjoy very light floral scents.

3. Origins Gloomaway™ Grapefruit Body Mist £18

This tangy citrus scented mist will really help to uplift your spirits and leave you feeling revitalised.

Last Friday the world went Royal Wedding mad with 34.7 million people in the UK alone watching some of the BBC’s coverage of Kate and Wills tying the knot.

Of the millions who were watching I’m sure there were a fair few contemplating the design and designer of Middleton’s dress, how she would wear her hair and what make up she was wearing.

Thankfully Kate did not stray too far from her normal look and despite probably having make-up artists queuing all the way to the moon for a chance to do her make-up, the now duchess refreshingly decided she would feel more comfortable doing it herself.

Kate kept things fairly simple in the make-up stakes, going for glowing skin with a little more blusher than usual, a soft smokey eye with her signature eyeliner and neutral lips and nails.

Though the products used remain mostly unknown, the Daily Mail revealed that according to Kate’s nail stylist Marina Sandoval from Jo Hansfords London salon, she was wearing a special blend of Bourjois No 28 Rose Lounge and Essie 423 Allure.

In addition, Clarence House revealed that Kate was wearing a fragrance she had requested a few weeks before – White Gardenia Petals, by the little known The House of Illuminum, founded by British perfumer Michael Boadi. Of course, Kates midas touch now means the £70 fragrance has sold out, but if you want to smell like a princess then you can join the waiting list on the official website.

Winner: Paco Rabanne – Lady Million £44.99 (50 ml)

With top notes of bitter orange and raspberry and base notes of honey and patchouli, Lady Million makes for a not too heavy but fresh and long lasting everyday scent. Great for injecting some glamour into daily life! The bottle is also good fun and compact so great for carrying in your bag.

Runner up: Vivienne Westwood – Naughty Alice

Evening

Winner: Balenciaga – Paris eau de parfum £56 (50ml)

This perfume is everything you want in a scent for the evening. Sophisticated and demure with a blend of violet notes, leaves and woods this is hands down my favourite evening fragrance since I discovered my all time favourite Givenchy’s – eaudemoiselle De Givenchy, and will now remain a staple in my collection forever.

If you’re looking for a scent which turns heads when you walk in a room then this is the one.

Runner up: Gucci – Guilty

Celebrity

Winner: Beyonce – Heat £28.50 (50ml)

Celebrity fragrances are often a little hit and miss, mostly miss actually, but this year seems to have churned out a good few decent ones. Beyonce’s Heat surprised me because I’m not usually one for sweet fragrances but this scent is warm and almost musky (in a good way!), with heart notes of almond macaroon, honeysuckle nectar and crème de musk. I’ve got to say the ad campaign must be working its magic because I do feel sort of seductive and dare I say…bootylicious when I’m wearing this.

Runner up: Jennifer Anniston – Jennifer Anniston

Mens

Winner: Davidoff – Champion £36.50 (50ml)

Well, for starters I’m not a man, so in terms of longevity of scent or wearability I’m not going to be a great deal of help. However, I got this for my boyfriend and love this scent on him. Other fragrance releases from this year such as Marc Jacobs BANG (very peppery!) have been exciting, young and original but Champion is a classic male scent which will stand the test of time. I’ve caught a whiff of this on various men of various ages and it seems to smell universily incredible on every one of them, a rare quality in a fragrance.

Runner up: Dolce & Gabbana – the one gentleman

With only a few weeks remaining before the official Christmas countdown begins it is time to start thinking about unleashing our inner child and looking for this years advent calender. Here are our top three luxury, albeit unique ways to count ourselves into this Christmas this December:

Beauty Lovers – 24 Days of Luxuries Exclusive Beauty Advent Calendar £60

With this advent calender you are going to think Christmas has come everyday (well at least for 24 days). Behind each window hides an exclusive beauty treat, from miniature YSL perfumes, lippies and mascaras through to a hand bag sized Kiehls Ultimate Strength Hand Salve. The only problem is that by the time you reach Christmas day, all the pressies under the tree are going to pale in comparison to your sack of treats, oh and it will set you back £60!

Chocolate Lovers – Hotel Chocolate Luxury Truffles to Share Advent Calendar

If you have ever raced to your advent calender at the sound of your wake up alarm only to find that someone else got there first, then this is the calender for you. Not only are the chocolate truffles behind each window divine, there are also two of them so you and your loved can share in a little luxury every day.

For boys who love toys – 2010 LEGO City Advent Calendar £24.95

This advent calender may be designed for anyone over the age of five, but as many women know all too well, boys never outgrow toys. If the recent release of Call of Duty: Black Ops means you’ve been ousted away from the 32” flat screen and have to settle for watching X-Factor on the hand-me-down number which is fuzzy and half the size then why not give him something else to play with? The ridiculously brilliant Lego City Advent Calendar counts down to the holidays with 24 days of building fun! With 9 miniature figures and a whole host of other accessories this calender will inject a bit of playful fun into this Christmas.
