The festive season is a great time to try out new make-up looks and techniques. Adding some sparkle becomes festive, not frivolous and a bold, new lipstick shade is always more appealing at evening events.
If you want to try something a little different this party season, take your cues from the autumn/winter 15 shows. Take a look below for some inspiration:
Old Hollywood glamour
Done to perfection by Marchesa, old school Hollywood charm is ideal for winter parties. Look to plum, rose, bronze and antique gold for your colour palette. Warm metallics define the eyes while lips are painted in luxurious berry tones.
Try: A slick of NARS Steven Klein Fantascene Killer Shine Lipstick in No Shame (£20) on the lips and Bobbi Brown’s Sequin Eye Shadow in Constellation (£25) on the eyes.
Sultry smokey eye
This is a classic look that packs a real punch. Layer up metallic blacks and greys on the eyes, leaving the lips nude and the skin natural looking a la Diane von Furstenberg. Applying plenty of black mascara will complete the look.
Try: Chantecaille Le Chrome Luxe Eye Duo in Tibet (£48), use the lighter shade all over and the darker shade in the crease for definition.
Radiant glow (sparkle optional)
Glossy lips combined with sculpted, highlighted skin gave models an inner glow at Rodarte. A strip of Swarovski crystals were also added to the lower lash line for a touch of sparkle. To create the same effect use eyelash glue to add 10-15 small jewels along your lower lash line. This look is all about the skin, so getting the right highlighting kit is key.
Try: Hourglass Ambient Lighting Edit (£65), pair with a sheer lip gloss.
A contemporary take on the party look, gloss instead of shadow is a quick way to modernise your make-up. Pair with a smudged dark liner and perfectly groomed brows like Roberto Cavalli for a slept-in, rock’n’roll appeal.
Try: MAC Studio Eye Gloss in Pearl Varnish (£16) with a blendable kohl liner.
