If there’s one thing you can guarantee about autumn weather in the UK, it’s that there will be rain! If you want to look your best when the weather is wet, you may want to give your make-up a re-think.
Take a look below for some rainy day make-up tips:
Use a lightweight moisturiser
When it’s wet and rainy out, humidity levels are general high. This means you probably won’t need a heavy-duty moisturiser. Instead, stick to a lightweight version, or go for a tinted moisturiser/BB cream.
Remember your primer
A primer will help your base stay on the skin despite the elements. If you’re going big on the eye make-up, use an eyeshadow primer too.
Avoid thick foundations
The more product you use, the worse it will look if it gets wet. Try to stick to thin, light foundations and finish off with a touch of illuminating powder.
Blend, blend, blend
Stripes of colour that haven’t been blended properly don’t look great at the best of times, but when wet they can become even more obvious. To avoid this, ensure you blend your make-up properly. You can do this by using your fingers, a brush or a sponge.
Use waterproof eye products
This may sound obvious, but remember to bring out the waterproof mascara for rainy days. This means even if you get caught in the rain, your eye make-up won’t smudge.
Use a matte lipstick
For a lip colour that will last all day in wet and windy weather, go for a matte formula or a lip stain. Autumn is the perfect time to try out deep berry tones.
Go easy on the powder
Powder products can look mottled and uneven on the skin when they get wet. Try to stick to cream products where you can, and use face powder sparingly.
Use a setting spray
A setting spray will help keep your make-up in place, giving it the extra holding power it needs in wet weather.
