When we sleep our body rejuvenates and heals – including our skin, hair and nails. The time we spend in bed is therefore a great opportunity to give this process a little boost.
There are also tips and tricks you can use to save you time in the morning, allowing you a few extra minutes of beauty sleep.
Take a look below for some bedtime beauty hacks:
Sleep on silk
A tad indulgent yes, but sleeping on silk pillowcases has many beauty perks. The fibres in cotton fabric can aggravate skin and roughen up the cuticles of your hair. The smooth silk fibres will keep skin happy and hair flyaway free. Bonus – as silk is naturally hypoallergenic, it will pick up less spot-causing bacteria.
Apply your deodorant at night
As antiperspirants work by plugging the sweat glands to stop sweat from getting to the skin’s surface, they need time to form. Using your deodorant before bed gives it plenty of time to do this and even your morning shower shouldn’t interfere with it.
Try a coconut hair treatment
Coat your hair in hydrating coconut oil, wrap it in a towel or put it in a bun and head to bed. In the morning rinse it out in the shower and you’ll be left with soft, conditioned tresses.
Soften your feet
Even though summer is over, this doesn’t mean you can neglect your feet! Use a foot scrub followed by a moisturising balm. Pop on some socks to help the skin soak up the moisture while you sleep.
Hydrate with a humidifier
If you suffer from dry skin, as well as using a hydrating night cream get yourself a humidifier for your room. This will add humidity to the air which will pump your pores full of moisture.
Avoid polish smudges
If you’ve had a late night nail painting sesh, avoid smudging your nails by using nail caps. These act like mini shields to ensure your nails dry smudge free.
Try an overnight facial treatment
Give your complexion a boost by applying an overnight treatment. There are plenty of products on the market for different skin woes – we are especially intrigued by the bareMinerals Pure Transformation Night Treatment.
