Getting enough sleep is important for a healthy body and a healthy mind – but it’s also important for looking your best (they don’t call it beauty sleep for nothing!). When we’re asleep our body heals and regenerates – and this includes our skin and nails.
Understandably then, overnight is a great time to slather on some beauty products and let them work their magic. Take a look below to see which products the Beauty Resource team stash on their nightstand and apply religiously:
The pillow spray
OK, this one isn’t technically a ‘beauty’ product, but it helps us sleep and that is beautifying in itself. A soothing fragrance can help you drift off when you’re finding it hard to relax.
We love This Works deep sleep pillow spray (£16). If you don’t like the idea of a spray, try a balm or roller ball instead and apply to your pulse-points.
The lip balm
Applying a thick, treatment-style lip balm overnight will give your lips the chance to truly rehydrate. This can be especially important if you wear a lot of matte lipsticks, as these can dry out the lips.
We’re obsessed with the Kiehls lip balm at the moment (£9.50), it’s a cult classic for a reason.
The hand cream
Again, overnight is a great time to hydrate your skin, so show your digits some love with a nourishing hand cream. Pick one with a relaxing scent (like lavender) to help you de-stress before bed.
We always have a tube of L’Occitane hand cream to hand (£8).
The cuticle oil
Helping to boost the health of your nails, a good cuticle oil can strengthen and protect your nail bed. Apply some on your cuticles before you go to sleep to keep them nourished.
We like the new cuticle pens that are being released right now, making application a doddle. Try the Nails Inc vitamin E cuticle pen (£14).
The foot cream
Help your feet get ready for sandal season with a hit of moisture overnight. Apply a thick cream and pop on a pair of sleeping socks to lock in the moisture.
We love the sound of the Origins Reinventing the Heel Mega Moisture (£22) to refresh and heal dry skin.
