It’s in cold weather that our skin is most prone to damage. To protect against dry, cracked skin and future wrinkles, it can be a good idea to invest in a protective hand cream.
Out of the thousands of hand creams out there, from luxury designer to cheap and cheerful, we’ve picked out our favourites:
There’s no denying Christmas is an expensive time. If you’re on a budget this year, you probably don’t have the spare cash lying around to spend £50 on a designer label. With this in mind, we’ve selected two hand creams for the budgeters:
- Nivea Age Defying Q10 (£2) – for hand creams under a fiver, this one has to be a winner. It smoothes out fine lines and protects against age spots so you won’t emerge from this winter looking 10 years older than you are!
- Burt’s Bees (£9.99) – this one is a little more expensive than fail-safe Nivea, but it’s got a quirky edge: it’s made from vitamin-rich beeswax and banana and smells delicious. It’s also 100% natural and at a fairly reasonably price, we think it’s a must-have.
Nothing beams classic luxury quite like the Clarins counter. If you’re looking to splurge a little more on a hand cream with style, try Clarins Hand and Nail Treatment Cream. This gorgeously rich formula is bursting with active ingredients to minimise age spots, strengthen nails and moisturise skin and cuticles for wonderfully soft, youthful, lightly fragranced hands. At a very fair £19, it’s luxury without breaking the bank.
Chemicals do nothing good for your skin or the environment. If it’s eco-friendly you’re after, try Neal’s Yard Melissa Hand Cream for £13.50. It’s been described by Marie Claire as a ‘pair of invisible gloves’ that soothe and protect skin with a blend of organic ingredients including nourishing vitamins. It’s light, non-greasy, long-lasting and lightly fragranced with lemon for a fresh, clean feeling.
