It’s a question you might find yourself asking very soon, because sales of men’s skin camouflage have gone through the roof as ‘metrosexual’ celebrities like Zach Effron and Joey Essex show the pap that flawless skin is nothing to be ashamed of.
Now, edgy fashion label CK has created its first cosmetics range due for release in Debenhams this month – for both women and men.
CK marketing president Thomas Burkhardt said: ‘CK One Color [sic] offers a simplified approach to beauty that embraces individualism and defies stereotypes, with boundary-pushing edginess and individuality in its DNA.’
The new range screams simplicity and functionality. It’s a reversion to the days before consumerism and branding got out of hand, back when make-up was used for a purpose, not because it represented a certain female ideology (being ‘worth it’ etc.).
It’s something of a relief to stumble upon a collection as simple and no-nonsense as CK One Color.
Instead of launching a range of 20 different mascaras claiming to do slightly different things, CK One Color is all about multi-tasking. For instance, the 3-in-1 Face Make-up is a serum, primer and make-up all packed into one neat monochrome pot, presumably reflecting CK’s ‘black and white’ approach to fashion.
For easy application, the collection is broken down into three basic categories:
- ‘Look Real’ – concealers and foundations designed to give even, smooth, flawless-looking skin.
- ‘Define Yourself’ – bronzers, blushers and mascara for contouring and definition across the cheekbones and around the eyes.
- ‘Intensity’ – eye-shadows, lip-glosses and lipsticks for added colour.
The brave unisex collection has already stormed Spain, France, Portugal, Australia and the U.S, and this month it will hit shops in Mexico, South Africa, Germany, Brazil and the UK, before going global in 2013.
With a full cast of the world’s edgiest, most beautiful models promoting the collection, we’re sure it’ll get enough attention to become a big success here in Britain.
