Daphne Guinness fragrance launch
Fashion eccentric Daphne Guinness has always had her fingers in many pies, but this month she is to make her debut in the world of fragrance.
Labelled simply Daphne, the fragrance is a culmination of efforts between herself and Comme Des Garcons and blends what she calls a “battle of contradictions” into a scent which she hopes encapsulates her personality. The fragrances top notes include bitter orange, incense and saffron with rose centifolia at the eau de parfum’s heart.
Daphne has been exclusively available at Dover Street Market since September 4th but is soon to be released worldwide from September 18th The first run of 5,000 bottles will retail at £90 for a 50ml spray. This may seem expensive for perfume but it is eau de parfum, limited edition and the design is exquisite. The carton is made of white linen book cloth and the interior is a high-gloss black finish.
Never one to blend into the crowd or do things by halves, Daphne has even included hints of tuberose in her scent, which apparently used to be eaten by pterodactyls. Now if that’s not a reason to go and buy a bottle, quite frankly I don’t know what is.
