Ok so Boots 17 make up range is really designed as a teenage version of their grown-up No. 7 range, but let’s face it, there’s no age limit on make up (except maybe blue eye shadow). Some of the 17 products are perhaps a little juvenile, but there’s the odd product that makes it onto the grown-up radar.
Their Eye Dazzle Eye Shadow has been recommended in Vogue, and is perfect for creating instant sparkling eyes. Simply use an eyeshadow applicator, brush or even your finger to spread the powder across your eyes and you’re done! They’re also great for adding a shimmery finish to matte eyeshadows.
They cost £3.99 each and are available in six shades. Star Cross, a silver colour, is probably the most versatile, but there are shades to offset every eye colour. Grab them online or instore.

Handbag queen Lulu Guinness has been making amazing handbags that mix timeless glamour with a streak of rebellion for years. She’s already branched out from handbags into jewellery, but now she’s taken a leap into the world of fragrance, with the creation of her first scent. Her signature fragrance comes in a classically designed Lulu Guinness bottle - simple and inspired by 1950s glamour.
The scent is flower based, with apple blossoms and lilies to give the smell of summer in a timeless, classic fragrance with a playful edge, much like Lulu Guinness’s bags. The light, subtle smell means it can be worn as an everyday perfume to bring a touch of summer to your day.
It’s available in 30, 50 and 100ml bottles from the Lulu Guinness website.

For some reason eyeshadow just won’t stay put on my eyelids. Either it disappears without a trace, or it creases right into my eyelid, which is not a good look. I’ve tried a million different kinds of eyeshadow - liquid, cream, mousse, powder, but it all goes the same way after just a few hours.
I’ve tried eyeshadow bases too, but they just seem to make things worse. But that was until I tried Urban Decay’s Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Naturally I was sceptical, but this product had rave reviews so I thought I’d give it a go. Well I’m happy to report it works like a dream! You simply apply the product as you would eyeshadow, wait a couple of seconds for it to dry, and then apply your chosen eyeshadow, and it’ll stay put until bedtime!
So if you’ve got troublesome eyelids, invest in a bottle of this lovely magic potion and the problem’s solved. Available from ASOS, it costs £9.50.

If you want to add a bit of colour to your eye makeup without messing about with eyeshadow, then try a coloured mascara. They’re great for trying something a bit different without too much effort, and are going to be a popular product this season, having already been seen on the catwalk.
Urban Decay have got a great range of coloured mascara in their Big Fatty range. So as well as extra thick, longer lashes, you can now have them in colour! Choose from Black Cherry, Indigo, Electric Blue or Purple Haze. Black Cherry is a burgundy colour that’s a subtle change to black, or go all out with Indigo, Electric Blue or Purple Haze to frame your eyes and make them stand out.
At only £8 each it won’t cost you the earth to try one out. They’re available from ASOS or Urban Decay counters.

The beauty industry is all about image, which is why cosmetics company work as hard on the packaging for their product as they do on the product itself.
If you’re looking for a quirky, unique brand with brilliant packaging, then look no further than cult brand Eyeko Beauty. Inspired by Manga (Japanese animation), Eyeko translates as Love, and counts many A List celebrities including Kylie, Victoria Beckham and Thandie Newton amongst it’s customers.
With such wealthy fans you’d expect Eyeko products to come with a premium price. But the best part is that each product only costs £5!
Their Touch Up and Go Concealer was their pioneering product, and continues natural ingredients that rejuvenate tired eyes, making them look wider and more awake. Their 5 in 1 Eyeshadows are also great, featuring five shades for just £5 allowing you to create your own unique look.
Eyeko products are available from the Eyeko website or in selected Superdrug stores.

If you’re looking for the ultimate matte lipstick, then look no further than cosmetic heavyweight MAC. Their lipstick has brilliant colour with no extra shine, gloss or shimmer. Apply it straight from the bullet for an intense colour, or use a brush and your fingers to create the perfect level of colour.
Whilst some lipsticks dry out your lips or fade quickly. The colour lasts all day no matter what you’re doing, and it keeps your lips feeling soft and moisturised.
There are 14 shades to choose from in a matte finish, from a barely there pink to a deep purple. I’ve just picked up Lady Danger, a brilliant red shade that can be used as a full on vampish red or smudged a little for a not too over powering day time look.
The compact lipstick size fits easily into the tiniest of bags and the sleek packaging has a look that only a premium make up brand can achieve.
Head over to the MAC website to browse their full range of lipstick, costing £11 each.

Those clever people at No7 have managed to produce another great product. We all know how time consuming taking off and redoing nail varnish is when you decide you want a different colour for a night out or that you need something a little more subtle for the office. So No7’s Colour Miracle Nail Polish is nail varnish with a twist. Simply apply one of the light, pretty shades for daytime, and then when you fancy something a little more daring, simply sweep on a coat of clear nail varnish and watch as the colour is transformed into a glossy, dramatic shade. You can turn a light, girly pink into a deep, bold magenta, or a dark plum into an almost black.
At only £6.50 each, this nail varnish is super cheap considering you’re effectively getting two shades for the price of one. Their Stay Perfect Nail Colour in Clear costs £6.25. Get them from Boots stores or their website, and start transforming your nails in seconds.

Givenchy have just launched their AW08 make-up collection, and it includes some fabulous eye shadow palettes. The Prisme Again Shimmer Eyes Limited Edition in Smoky Shimmer has a matte gray base and three metallic shades in purple, blue and black to create dramatic, dark eyes. The base colour helps to highlight the glittery particles in the metallic shades.
The matte gray is also polka dot, which refers to the inspiration for these palettes. Givenchy have interpreted a Dandy suit, with the darker colours showing the suit aspect, and the polka dots suggesting a tie.
As with all collections, these are strictly limited edition, so get them before they’re gone for £27.50 from Debenhams online or Givenchy counters in departments stores.
