Tip of The Week

To stop eyeshadow from falling under your eye (which can make your eyes look like you have dark circles) either do your eye makeup first and then apply your foundation, or hold a cotton pad under your eye with your spare hand whilst applyng your eyeshadow. This way any pigments fall onto the cotton pad rather then your skin.

Get The Smokey Eyes Look

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

I love the smokey eyes look, and I think blondes look especially good with it. You don’t need to stick to smokey grey colours, a wide range of colours would look great as long as you stick to the key elements.

Firstly, sweep a neutral shade over the entire eye up to the brow bone. Then with whatever colour you decide to use get a lighter and a deeper shade of the same colour. Apply the lighter colour just over the eyelid, then add the deeper colour to the socket and the outer corner of the eyelid, and blend it in towards the inner corner.

Then using a small eyeliner brush apply the darker shade under the eye as well. Next apply a dark eyeliner - black’s good or a coloured eyeliners fine (it needs to be a deep shade though). Apply it over the eye, and also inside the eye. Then finish with a lashing of dark mascara.

These deep colours should really make your natural eye colour stand out. Jennifer Lopez loves this look and does it all the time with Browns, then nude lips. You can achieve this look using the following products.

Miss Barbados Eyeshadow PoutQuickliner for Eyes CliniqueBenefit Bad Gal Lash

1. Miss Barbados eyeshadow duo by Pout £13.00.

2. Really Black Quickliner for eyes from Clinique £11.00.

3. Bad Gal Lash by Benefit £14.50.

To stop lipstick from getting on your teeth, apply lipstick/lipgloss as usual, then stick your index finger into your mouth and close your lips around it. Pull your finger out, and any lipstick that was likely to get onto your teeth will now be on your finger!

Get the Dewy Skin Look

Stila Illuminating Liquid FoundationDewy skin is going to be big again this year, which is great as it makes any skin colour look fantastic.

I prefer this look rather than a matte finish, but it’s probably more appropriate for an evening look.

There’s different ways to achieve this look, firstly you could highlight certain features like your cheek bones or brow bones, or you could use a highlighter over the whole face.

If you mix a little with your foundation or moisturiser then apply to the entire face with your hands, or there are plenty of foundations that now come with the highligher already in it. Stila do a fantastic one called Illuminating liquid foundation (£24.00), or MAC Hyper real foundation is £18.50.

If you want to just apply a little to one area try using Pout’s Illuminater £22.00 which comes in two colours Love Glow or After Glow, or Benefit Moon Beam a soft pink or High Beam a golden pink colour £15.50. If you are applying the product this way makes sure it’s blended in properly using your fingertips.

Mario Bedescu Drying LotionI read in this months Company magazine about Mario Badescu Drying Lotion £15.00. Apparently it can get rid of even the worst spot in as little as 24 hours.

Being someone who suffers with the odd spot or two im going to buy it now, i’ll test it and report back on my findings.

Im praying for a miracle cure, wouldn’t it be fab not to worry if the night before a hot date a pimple from hell arrived!

If you’re thinking of buying it you can get it online from HQHair.com

Make The Most of Your Eyes

Bobbi Brown Eye ShadowEver wondered what colours would make your eyes stand out. Well read my guide below, head for the make up counter, and blow that special someone away with knock ‘em dead eyes!

Blue: Gold, Green, Brown, Bronze. You can still wear the other colours but these will bring out your natural eye colour the best.

Green: Purple, Blue, Green, Brown.

Brown: Any colour - You lucky ladies, but within limits - I wouldn’t recommend heavy blue eyeshadow to anyone.

Bobbi Brown Creamy Eye PencilA great way to make your eyes stand out is to use one colour on your eyelids (e.g. I have green eyes, so a green eyeshadow) then a purple eye pencil underneath your eye.

It may sound a little adventurous to the more inexperienced folks, but trust me the results are beautiful. Why not try it one day and play around with lots of colours, and see what works for you. Just remember ladies, Pink and Green should never be seen.

Have a look at Bobbi Browns website they have a huge range of colours in eyeshadows and eye pencils and their eye shadows are the best I’ve come across.

Molton Brown Wonderlips Booster

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Another product I can’t live without is Molton Brown Wonderlips Booster. I have now justified it as a must seeing how I can’t live without it, rather than a luxury. At £25.00 a pop it’s not the cheapest lip product on the market, but I am a great believer in you get what you pay for.

I suffer from dry lips, and my top lip is thiner than the bottom, however after using this miracle product I now have the same size lips, they are alot less dry and softer, and it really has increased the volume of my lips. My boyfriend even commented the other day how full they are, and for a man to notice that speaks volumes!

Now I haven’t got Anges lips or a trout pout for that matter, but they are full and personally I wouldn’t want them any bigger.

You can buy it direct from Molton Brown.

MAC BlushCreme My Favourite Product

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

MAC BlushCremeMy favourite product at the moment is MAC BlushCreme, it goes everywhere with me - I’m currently using a Pink shade called Salsabelle. It’s so easy to apply and blend, you only need a little bit so it lasts ages, and the colour looks fantastic.

They have a massive choice of colours and personally at £13.50 I think it’s a bargain. Other great similar products are Stila Convertible Color $20.00, and Pout Flush Blush £20.00. If you’re on a budget try Maybelline mousse Blush.

It’s winter and there are alot of pasty faces out there, get some colour on your cheeks, you’ll feel a million dollars! Pale and interesting is a great look, but using a bit of rouge will stop you from looking washed out.

You can buy MAC BlushCreme at their site.

Benefit Eyecon

Benefit EyeconIf dark circles under your eyes are getting you down, and you’d actually like to tackle the problem rather than just cover it up, you could try Eyecon by Benefit.

It’s an eye cream that fades dark circles. Apply day and night and eyecon is engineered with ‘fading action’ so your eyes will appear instantly brighter while softening the appearance of fine lines.

You can get it from Benefit for £21.50.
