Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Pop Eye ClassIf you’ve ever wondered what colour eye shadows suit what colour eyes, then I have found the perfect product for you. It’s called Pop Eye Class and it’s an eye shadow palette with twelve coordinated long lasting silky shades.

There are 3 palettes available; one for blue eyes, one for green eyes and one for brown eyes, and they come in a cute wallet with a mirror.

Apparently Kylie, Jessica Simpson, and Beyonce are all fans and you can get it online from ASOS for £18.00.

Tip of The Week

Eyeliner TipTo draw a straight line when using eyeliner you need to place your finger on the outside of your eyelid and pull outwards, so the skin is stretched.

If you have slightly wrinkly eyelids this tip works especially well. It will also make it alot easier to get right up close to the eyelashes, and get a darker line as you can press harder onto the eyelid.

Batiste Dry Shampoo, Bad Hair Days Are a Thing of The Past!

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Batiste Dry ShampooI have been using this hair product for some time now and it’s a life saver. I have very fine hair and it needs washing everyday as it gets greasy quickly looking flat and lifeless. Then I came across Batiste dry shampoo; just spray it over your roots, massage it in for a minute then brush through. Hair is completely revived and the results last all day.

I have found it has also helped my hair; now I don’t need to wash it so much because it’s improved the quality of my hair. Although I’m not sure if it’s because I’m not stripping the natural goodness from my hair as much with less washing or if it’s because I now don’t need to use heated appliances so much, but whatever the reason it’s really improved my hair, and it’s so convenient for work, that’s at least 20 minutes extra in bed every other morning now.

Since using Batiste I have read about it everywhere, stars like Emma Bunton can’t get enough either. You can buy Batiste from Boots for £2.09.

Lipliner TipIf, like me, you don’t have the most steady hand and your eyeliner or lipliner always looks a mess, then you could do with learning this little trick I was taught whilst working for MAC.

Once you’re holding the pencil, you need to use your smallest finger as a support and rest it on your chin. That way your hand will be alot more steady, then use the other fingers actually holding the pencil to slowly move around the mouth drawing a nice defined line.

YSL Easy Liner

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

YSL Easy LinerI love using eyeliner, and I usually use different color kohl’s. I have nearly every color from MAC - they have the best colors and are so good for blending. One thing I didn’t have was a really good liquid liner that gives you that really sharp defined line, I love the way Angelina jolie does hers. The reason for this is I don’t really have a steady hand and because of this it never looks right.

Then I read about YSL Easy Liner which looks a bit like a felt tip pen (but with much nicer packaging!). I rushed out to buy it and was lucky enough to get the last one, so I think they are in high demand. I got it from Bentalls in Kingston for £19.00, but have also seen it available from Boots at the same price. So it’s not the cheapest, but I do feel it was worth the money, as it’s so unbelievably easy to use, and looks fantastic.

I think the main reason it’s so good is it doesn’t let out a whole lot of color at a time, so it doesn’t run at all, you just need to build the color up gently which is so easy to do, and really does take no time at all.

Red Carpet Glamour

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

MAC Sultress LashesThe first thing I’ve noticed about the latest beauty trend sweeping the red carpet is false eyelashes, they’re eveywhere! Anna Nicole Smith even gave birth wearing them, and any red carpet queen including Eva Longoria wouldn’t be seen dead without them.

You can get eyelash extensions that are semi permanent and last about two months, these look surprisingly real but are a little pricey - you can get them from Jinny Lash, a full set starts from £150 or half set for £80.

Too Faced Lash GemsIf you’ve got a special night out coming up and you want something you can just wear once then throw away, then check out MAC’s full range starting from £7.00, they have every look posible.

Want to go one step further? Then Too Faced do lash gems to really add sparkle to your eyes. They come in four different colours and you get about 24 of each colour for $15.00.

Tinted Moisteriser For Summer Skin

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

Benefit You RebelIf you’re jetting off to a warmer climate to escape those winter blues, then one product you’re going to need is a tinted moisteriser. It’s not so heavy as your foundation, and once you have a tan your foundation will probably be too light for your skin tone.

If you want to make like the stars (Eva Longoria and Sienna Miller love this look) then you could try a couple of products I know are great.

<Bareface Bronze Molton BrownBenefit do a gorgeous one called You Rebel for £19.50. What’s great about this product is it only comes in one shade but blends into any colour, so you could use it all year round, whether you’re pale or tanned. It also comes in quite a generous tube so it will last you ages.

Another one of my favourites is Bareface Bronze by Molton Brown for £19.00. It’s sheer so gives you that sunkissed glowing complexion look.

Tip of the week

Thursday, May 31st, 2007

When choosing a foundation the most important thing is the colour. Never buy a foundation, especially an expensive one, by testing it on your hand. This is a good way to test what sort of coverage you will achieve, but it’s totally inaccurate to determine what shade you require. Most people don’t realise their hands are very rarely the same colour as their face.

The best way to get the perfect match is to test on your face around the jawline. This way you wont get a visable line around the face. Remember if you’re pale and want to look more sunkissed don’t use a darker shade of foundation, use a bronzer!
