Let’s be honest, during the winter months personal maintenance takes somewhat of a back seat for most women. After all, why waste time shaving when we know our skin is likely to see less sun than an Arctic winter? Today however, marks Valentines Day, a day dedicated to love, passion and igniting the right kind of fire. So ladies, shed that onsie, dust off that razor and blow away those cobwebs from your moisturiser - it’s time to bring sexy back. See below for some quick fix tips:
Defuzz - When it’s cold, rainy and windy, we understand that an extra layer of hairy insulation might seem necessary. Alluring to the opposite sex however, it is not. If you haven’t been shaving regularly treat your legs with care as you may experience some irritation. If you don’t have any shaving foam, a sneaky tip is to use hair conditioner instead of shower gel for a super smooth finish.
Brush-up - Often, body and face scrubs can be quite abrasive - especially for those with sensitive skin. An excellent and underrated alternative is to dry body brush. Body brushing helps to:
shed dry skin cells
increase circulation which can contribute to a reduction in the appearance of cellulite
rejuvenate the nervous system by stimulating nerve endings
improve vascular blood circulation and lymphatic drainage by releasing toxins and encouraging discharge of metabolic waste.
You can pick up a natural bristle brush inexpensively from most chemists and even supermarkets nowadays. The method is simple - work in gentle circular, upward motions all over your body before showering to wash away any dead skin and voilà - you’re a new woman.
Give yourself a good oiling - The cold can make our skin look a little like the desert (minus the tumbleweed) - dry, cracked and dehydrated. Give your extra thirsty skin what it wants by massaging in some body oil. Oils protect the skin's lipid barrier and are an excellent way of preventing moisture from evaporating from the skin. A cautionary message - don’t go overboard, a little oil goes a long way - think soft and not slippery.
So there we have it ladies - a quick rundown on how to prepare yourself for a night of romancing. Enjoy!
